Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He lived in Shelf, with his wife Maggie Crowther, and besides working as a designer he played the organ in local chapels. He enlisted as one of the Bradford Pals in September 1914, earned a Military Medal for Gallantry and devotion to Duty and was commissioned in 1917. he is also commemorated on teh Ploegsteert Memorial.
