Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He left Rastrick Grammar in 1910, worked in an office and enlisted in September 1914. One of the many of Calderdale and this regiment to die in the failed attack on the Schwaben Redoubt on 3rd September 1916, he is also commemorated on IWM 2738 and 2603 as well as the Thiepval Memorial.
