Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was a scoutmaster who worked in Brighouse and enlisted in September 1914. He was commissioned from the ranks and was killed by shellfire. He was the elder brother of Reginald, also commemorated on this memorial, and, like him, he is also commemorated on IWM 2738.
