Notes
Rackley was a member of the Merchant Navy: according to information provided by the school in 2024, he was on his first voyage. The school magazine of May, 1957 recorded that: 'Peter Rackley was killed in an accident aboard his ship, the tanker Helicinia of the Shell Company, in the Indian Ocean on his first voyage. He entered the Junior School in September, 1946, and left from the Sixth Form in 1954, proceeding to Acton Technical College for a two-year diploma course, whence he joined the Merchant Navy as a Cadet Engineer. He was a quiet serious boy at school, a member of West House and of the Scout Troop. He was very keen on his Scouting activities and was a particularly good camper. We should like to express our sympathy to his family.'
