The following information was supplied by the school in 2024: ' Born Kington [in 1885]. Private. Noted by LHS Dec 1914 as POW in Germany. Entered theatre of war 27/8/14 qualified for 1914 Star. Reservist, having previous service in the army, left Kington on 5th August and was part of BEF. Died 1951 aged 66. 1911, a house painter. Mother received a postcard, giving his address as a POW as Gefangen Lager, Doberitz, Germany. Noted in the news item about his capture that there were two other brothers serving with the 1st Herefords in Northampton.' One brother was Thomas William who is also listed on this memorial.
