Notes
The school website (see References) provides the extra service, name and death details and provides this brief biographical detail: 'Hubert Meagher worked for many years as an accountant for Edmonson & Co in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, and in 1912 he married into the McDonogh family. On the outbreak of war he enlisted as a private and was commissioned shortly afterwards. He fell at Gallipoli. On the day of his
death, he wrote to his mother: If God wills, I shall see it through. I shall enter action with a clean heart, and if I emerge safely, I hope I will have proved myself a man and justified my commander’s confidence.”' It is unclear why the memorial gives his regiment as the Hampshires as the CWGC also list him as serving with te Australians.
