Notes
The school website (see References) provides this biography: 'Cecil Edward Keith-Falconer was born in Horsham, West Sussex on 11 October 1860, the second child of Major The Honourable Charles James Keith-Falconer of the 10th Hussars, and Caroline Diana Aldridge. He was at Charterhouse [Saunderites] between 1875 and 1878; he played for the Charterhouse 1st XI Football and Cricket teams in 1877. He was commissioned into the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1883; he served in Egypt, Dongola Expedition, Nile Expedition and in the Boer War, rising to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. On 24th June 1899 he married Georgina Sarah Routh Blagrave, daughter of John Henry Blagrave of Calcot Park, Reading. He was killed on active service near Belmont, South Africa, on 10 November 1899; his younger brother, Victor, was killed in action three months later.
His obituary in The Carthusian magazine noted, “He was an universal favourite, and his loss will be deeply felt and regretted by all who knew him. He played for the First Eleven at Cricket, and, it may be interesting to note, in this respect, scored the first "century" ever made by a member of this School against Westminster”.'
