Killed in action at sea when the SS Kingstonian was torpedoed by a U-Boat in the Mediterranean and was beached. The Times Diary and Index of War 1914 - 1918 shows that only one person was lost during this action.
Was buried at sea and therefore has no grave. Is commemorated on the Chatby Memorial, Alexandria, Egypt
