All additional information and this short biography are supplied thanks to the research of the Blackpool Grammar School Old Boys: 'He was the son of Harold and Marie Pierpoint Wood, and joined the School from Roseacre School in 1936, and left in 1940. He became a Flight Sergeant (No 1673642) and like H W Whittle was with No 230 Squadron. He was in the flying boat Sunderland type based in Rangoon on Far East operations after the end of the war in Europe and died on Tuesday 19th June 1945. He is buried in Colombo Cemetery, Sri Lanka.'
