Notes
All additional information and this short biography are supplied thanks to the research of the Blackpool Grammar School Old Boys: 'He came from Essen (in Germany!) and joined the School in 1940, one year into the War. He was the son of Ernest and Eileen Isabel Staples of Holly Road, and joined the Civil Service after leaving school. He was a Leading Airman (FX/95653) on HMS Goshawk, which was a land based RN Air Station, so it is possible that he was killed in an accident on Tuesday 7th September 1943, aged just 18. He lies in the Port of Spain (St James) Military Cemetery, Trinidad & Tobago.'
