All additional information and this short biography are supplied thanks to the research of the Blackpool Grammar School Old Boys: 'He came from Latymer School, and was at the Grammar School for a short time, 1940 to 1941. He was the son of Vidal Herbert and Madge Winifred Somers, living in Bryan Road. He joined the RAF and became a Sergeant (No 1589666) with No 186 Squadron flying Lancasters out of RAF Stradishall. He was killed just a month before war’s end, on Saturday 4th April 1945, aged just 20, and is buried at Haverhill Cemetery in Suffolk.'
