All additional information and this short biography are supplied thanks to the research of the Blackpool Grammar School Old Boys: 'He was the son of Matthew Reid and Ivy Ethel Johnston of Leeds Road, and attended Devonshire Road Junior School before being at the Grammar school from 1926 until 1932. He was 25, and flew as a Sergeant in the RAF with 10 Squadron (No 580546) when his Whitley bomber and its crew were lost on a leafleting raid over Italy on Tuesday 27th August 1940. His grave is in the Milan War Cemetery.'
