All additional information and this short biography are supplied thanks to the research of the Blackpool Grammar School Old Boys: 'He was at the school from 1932 until 1935, and the son of Harold and Evelyn Jayes of Angers Hill Road. He was Assistant Steward (D/LX25182) on the battleship Prince of Wales, and was killed at the age of 21 when it was sunk by Japanese bombers in the action off Malaysia on 10th December 1941. His name is inscribed on the Plymouth Naval memorial.'
