Notes
Entered College in Michaelmas Term, 1905. A History Exhibitioner and a member of the 1st Cricket XI, 1907; 1st Hockey XI, 1907 – 1908. 2nd History and B.A., 1908. Commenced service prior to the outbreak of war on August 4th, 1914. Second Lieutenant, 31st Punjabis, British Indian Army, 1908; Lieutenant, 1910; Captain, 12th Battalion, King’s Royal Rifle Corps, 1914 in France. Died of wounds received in action at Poperinghe, Flanders, 26 February 1916. CWGC confirm his burial place but give his age as 25: the college says he was 28 which, considering when he came up to Oxford, seems much more likely.
