The College website (see References) carries this brief biography: 'College Notes: Came up in 1939 to study Natural Sciences. BA 1942. Military Service: Drowned at sea 3 August 1942 going to take up a medical scholarship in the USA under the Rockefeller Foundation when M V Loch Katrine was torpedoed by U-552 in the North Atlantic, east of Cape Race.'
