The College website (see References) carries this brief biography: 'College Notes: Came up in 1932 to study History and Military Studies. BA 1935. Military Service: Lieutenant 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade. Died 28 May 1940 after being fatally wounded during the desperate rearguard fighting in Calais. He is reported as standing to kill the final German of the battle when he was fatally wounded.'
