The College website adds: 'He would have come up in 1914 from the Naval College at Dartmouth. His brother and cousins also came up to Pembroke. Charles was a Scholar, reading history. He died of wounds received in action 5.4.18. His DSO was for conspicuous gallantry on 23.11.1915 near Ypres. Buried at Abbeville Cem.'
