Notes
His biography on the college website (see references) states: ‘He was born in 1889, the eldest son of Peter James Duff Hawker of Longparish & Isabel Flora Augusta Tippings who were married in 1882. His father died in 1896 aged 44. The Hawkers owned Longparish House for several generations and PTR was called for a famous forbear. He was educated at Eton. He came up to Christ Church in 1908, going down in 1910, It appears that he did not take a degree. In 1914 he married at St. George’s, Hanover Square, Louisa Rosa Vuillemin Higgs. [Parentage not found]
In WW1 he was a Lieutenant in the RNVR and served in France & North and South Russia. He died at Victoria Hospital, Cork on January 29th 1933. On the Probate record his address is given as Lower Reenmeen, Glengarrif, County Cork. His estate in England amounted to £6030-1-2.'
It is not clear why this WW1 serving officer was not listed on the WW1 college memorial (IWM 31879) other than he died long after it was created, albeit also not during WW2.
