Son of William John and Mary Forsey, husband of Kathleen Joan Forsey of
Charmouth in Dorsetshire. Father of John Forsey.
Charles William Forsey was born on 27.4.1919 in Chideock in Dorset. He was the son of William
John Forsey (1865 -1943) who died in Bridport at the age of 78. William John married Mary Jane
Young (born 1876) in 1897 in the Registered District of Bridport. Both William John and Mary Jane
were born in Chideock.
Enlistment papers show he was 5ft61/2”, 194lb with brown hair. He was first in the 9th Anti Aircraft
Division formed in 1940 and then to H.Q. Anti Aircraft Division. His wife Kathleen worked as a Land
Girl at Venn Farm for the Ashford family.
Kirkee, also known as Khadki, is a Military Cantonment adjoining the large university town of Poona on the
Plateau above Bombay
KIRKEE WAR CEMETERY was created to receive Second World War graves from the western and
central parts of India where their permanent maintenance could not be assured.
