Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, to Ellen, and had 6 children. He had served in WW1 and then worked as a labourer with Todmorden Corporation before he re-enlisted in January 1940. He died when the Lancastria was bombed and sunk at St Nazaire and was not commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial: he is named on the Dunkirk Memorial.
