Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. An accomplished sportsman - he played rugby league for Rastrick, Brighouse and Bradford Northern A as well as cricket for Rastrick - he worked in Huddersfield before he enlisted in 1940. He probably served with a Guards Regiment, was killed whilst going to fetch stretcher bearers and was not found by them to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial.
