Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. The brother of John Leslie (Jack), who is also commemorated on this memorial, they lived with their aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs Fred Sykes, in Sowerby Bridge. Selwyn served in the Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment and, aged 23, was reported missing at Dunkirk on 11th June 1940: he is buried in the St Marie Cemetery in Le Harve. Like his brother he is also commemorated on IWM 2612.
