Memorial Details
What type of memorial is it?
How would you describe the memorial and its ornamentation?
A richly traceried stained glass window with panelled and carved framework in polished oak. The stained glass represented a soldier in khaki lying on the field of battle with a golden winged angel kneeling over him with a wreath of laurels for his head. Immediately behind him were the sandbags of a trench parapet, barbed wire entanglements lit up by the light from a burning building. By the soldier was his water bottle and helmet and nearby were red poppies. On the right was a clump of fir trees and on the groundwork were two small shields with a cross of sacrifice and a crown of reward, crossed with flowering plants. Below the window was a panel bearing the names.
