Memorial Details
What type of memorial is it?
How would you describe the memorial and its ornamentation?
Stained glass window. The left hand side is of a rural idyll, with a cherry tree prominent in the foreground and in the distance a church spire. Above the inscription, which begins with a line from A E Housman's poem, are some bars of music, presumably from its setting by Butterworth. The right side of the window, starting from part of the inscription appears shattered, with some bars of music on one of the jagged edges. In the distance are numerous war graves leading to the Thiepval memorial, where Butterworth is commemorated.
