Supervisor comments
The window was originally envisaged as a personal memorial to Theophilus Jones, Headmaster of Thringstone School (1913-14) killed during the German Bombardment of the Hartlepools 16-12-1914, the first British soldier to be killed on home soil in nearly 200 years, the first casualty of the Great War. Later it was decided to dedicate the window to a further 26 men from Thringstone who fell.
