Memorial Details
What type of memorial is it?
How would you describe the memorial and its ornamentation?
A two light stained glass window with tracery. The tracery shows Christ walking on the waters surrounded by a quotation from Psalm 139 v9 & v10 - "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me." The left light shows St Nicholas holding a model warship (presumably a representation of HMS Duchess), the right light has St Faith holding a scroll on which is written "His name is honoured in the land he loved". The commemoration runs across both lights and, at the foot of the right, the coat of arms and motto of the White family.
