Notes
The Roll lists his address as 25 Swans Place. It records that he died in April 1917 as a PoW, without stating the day or location, and omits his regimental number. [Army/Red Cross/CWGC documents record that Thomas William Scotney actually died in Germany on 4/2/1917, having been taken PoW on 18/11/1916 at Miramont, and is now buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery. CWGC currently misrecord his regimental number as 18667; it was actually 18867, of which they have therefore now been notified. JK].

(N.B. The Roll is known to include numerous errors, including: misspelt names and inaccurate date/place of death, service number/ rank/ military unit etc; several casualties were mistakenly listed on it twice [i.e. under their true name and also the alias under which they served]; several other men were listed on it due to the mistaken belief they had died, whereas they had actually survived).
