The CWGC show him as the son of Denis and Esther Ellen Clarkin, of Halifax, Yorkshire and the husband of Nellie Clarkin, of Halifax: they show him as a member of the Royal Artillery but Hornshaw and Fowler (se Refere4nces) are more exact in which artillery unit he served. They also say he was a porter at the Halifax Town Hall before the war, that he went missing whilst at sea and is also commemorated on both IWM 2689 and The Chatham Naval Memorial.
