According to Angus and Rosemary's Miscellany of Malvern (see References): 'Phillip Bernard Prothero, born 1894 Ayrshire, was the son of Edward Douglas and Margaret Caroline Prothero. Served with 24 Sqn Royal Flying Corps. Shot down and killed 26th July 1917 aged 23 years.'
