Work by Hornshaw and Fowler identifies his middle forename and age upon death - he enlisted in February 1939 and had served in France before being posted to North Africa. CWGC confirms his service and death details. He attended the local Grammar School, Hipperholme, and according to Hornshaw and Fowler is also commemorated on the memorial board there.
