Educated at Rishworth School where he held the mile and cross country records and his father was the Headmaster: Geoffrey Elliot, a WW1 casualty on this memorial was also the son of one of the school's earlier Headmasters. Edward was working in Rugby before he enlisted in 1939 and was then killed sometime between the 8th and 25th December 19141 by the Japanese as they invaded Hong Kong. He is also commemorated on IWM 2631 and 2632.
