Unit is confirmed as 12/13 Northumberland Fusiliers on the Tyne Cot Memorial (source: https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/841548/JAMES DAVISON COWEY/ accessed 18 December 2020). The Unit shown on the Coundon Memorial, 'NFEY', may have resulted from an initial confusion between the Northumberland Fusiliers and the East Yorkshire Regiment (The Duke of York's Own), many of whose members were lost in the same area on 4 October 1917 and are also commemorated at Tyne Cot.
