Notes
The 1994 version of the Roll of Honour mistakenly included this entry for a "B. Lands", whose address it recorded as Gilpin Street, New England, and who it stated was a Pioneer in the Royal Engineers who had "Died of gas wounds at Boscombe".
The entry was an erroneous duplication on the Roll, as the man to whom it was alluding was in fact the Pioneer "Bertie Rands" of the same regiment/address and place/cause of death etc, whose details are listed on the Roll under his correct surname. (See our Names record 59726 for Bertie Rands on this memorial).
Whilst the inclusion on the Roll of a non-existent man was clearly a mistake, its entry for "B. Lands" nonetheless exists, so this Names record for it has been left on our Register. (Otherwise, it might seem that we had overlooked that entry). JK
