CWGC records that Sapper Alfred Brown, regimental number 5834555, was serving in 994 Docks Operating Company of the Royal Engineers when he died 17/6/1943. He is commemorated on Panel 5. Column 3 of Brookwood 1939-45 Memorial in Surrey. He was the son of Caroline Brown and stepson of John William Kilby. (The Orton Longueville Parochial Church Council minutes dated 16/1/1945 and 29/3/1945 record that Alfred Brown, formerly of Orton Longueville, was included on the village's War Memorial by consent of Mrs Kilby).
