Hornshaw and Fowler provide the detail. He had joined the school in 1900. He was a talented organist and married Maggie Crowther of Shelf before enlisting in September 1914 in the Bradford Pals. He won a MM for gallantry and devotion to duty, was commissioned in 1917 and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial.
