He enrolled at Worcester College, Oxford in 1912 and the college archives add: 'George Edgar was educated at Charterhouse and came to Worcester College in 1912, where he was a member of the Oxford University Officer Training Corps. His service commenced on 24 November 1914 and he served with the King’s Royal Rifle Corps in France for over twelve months. Second Lieutenant George Edgar died on 28 August 1916 of wounds received in action at Delville Wood during the Battle of the Somme.'
