Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, with a child, and working in the laundry at Manchester Infirmary before he enlisted in May 1915. He was not found by them to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial. Both they and CWGC list him as a Lance Corporal, not a Private as the memorial does.
