Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, with 2 children, and worked as a fireman at a dyeworks before he enlisted in February 1917. This was the only Calderdale memorial that they researched upon which he was named but he is also commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
