Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was originally from Crook, near Kendal, was married to Annie and was both a postman and ran a fish and chip shop. He died in a naval hospital of his wounds suffered when HMS Britannia was torpedoes off Cape Trafalgar. This was the only Calderdale memorial they found him commemorated on.
