All extra details are based on information supplied by the College Archivist (see Additional Information). This included the following biographical details: '(1900) Born 30 September 1883, Woolwich, Kent; son of George Joseph Hamilton Evatt, Surgeon General, RAMC, and Sophia Mary Frances Kerr. Tutor(s): D MacAlister. Educ: Cheltenham College; privately educated. Career: Second Lieutenant 1904, Lieutenant 1906, Middlesex Regiment; Lieutenant, Northern Nigeria, West African Frontier Force 1909-1913; Captain, 1st Middlesex Regiment 1914. Died 13 November 1914 (killed in action near Armentieres ).' Another biographical source (see References) states: 'George Evatt came from a military family whose service went back to the 1750s. His comrade gave an account of his death in November 1914: ‘I was on duty in the trenches in the morning. Evatt came up to relieve me for five minutes while I heated some tea. He walked along to the middle of the trench to a place which I had once used for observing from, but had given up as one only had to show a hat there to have a bullet put through it. My sergeant warned him not to observe from there. He was hit through the brain and his death was absolutely instantaneous’.'
