Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was one of 3 local brothers to die (the others being Ernest Willie and Mortinton who are commemorated elsewhere in Halifax). He was married, to Edith, but she is thought to have been unfaithful and may have committed suicide in a fire. He was a painter and decorator before enlisting and is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois memorial as well as IWM 2689 (where his two brothers are also listed).
