Notes
All extra details are based on information supplied by the College Archivist (see Additional Information). This included the fact that he was 'Elected to an Exhibition but joined army before corning into residence' - in other words, he was due to join in 1917 but never matriculated. However, a press cutting supplied by the Archivist does allow us this biographical insight. He was born on 9th March 1899 in Camberwell, the son of a school headmaster. He would have read Maths at John's but instead enlisted and crossed to France on 21st April 1918. He was killed by shellfire 6 weeks later.
