Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. The son of a newsagent, he had worked for a jewellery firm before enlisting in July 1915 when only 16. Wounded, he was returned home and went back to his unit aged 18, only to be then killed. He is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial and IWM 2689.
