Hornshaw and Fowler (see References) provide the extra details. He was not married and had been a Regular whose had served in both India and the Boer War until 1902. He re-enlisted in September 1914 but died of pneumonia following a hernia operation in Pontefract where he was then buried. He is also listed on IWM 2689.
