Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He enlisted in September 1914 and was gassed at Hill 60 (Ypres), probably in 1915. He was treated in Manchester but declared unfit for active service and so served as a clerk in the Orderly Room at the regimental depot. He died of Double pneumonia in a military hospital and is also commemorated on IWM 2689. He was educated at Holy Trinity School in Halifax and so may also be on their memorial 2695.
