Hornshaw and Fowler provide death, age and service details but suggest he died when serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers but that he enlisted into the Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment before being transferred. CWGC cannot confirm as they show only one William Marsland as an April 1917 casualty but he was serving with the Canadians.
