The College website (see references) provides the following additional information: 'Accepted 1916 but did not come into residence. Military Service: Private 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died 21 April 1917 during the German withdrawal to the Hindenburg line. College obituary has him joining the London Brigade, Royal Field Artillery in 1916.'
