The College website (see references) provides the following additional information: 'Came up in 1914 to read Classics, but did not graduate. Military Service: 2nd Lieutenant 9th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry, attached 70 Squadron Royal Flying Corps. Died 9 August 1916 when his aircraft was shot down behind the German lines near Bapaume.'
