The College website (see references) provides the following additional information: 'Came up in 1900 to read Natural Sciences, but did not graduate. Military Service: Private East African Maxims. Killed 23 June 1915 at Bukoba, (a port on Lake Victoria in German East Africa) in a raid during the early part of the East African campaign to destroy the German radio station there. His death was not reported to the College until 1916 and was believed to have been in August/September 1914.' (CWGC confirms date).
