Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide some of the extra details, notably that he is also commemorated on IWM 2656 and his biographical, service and death details as they found them are shown there. However, Malcolm Bull tells us he worked as a railway porter before the war and served from August 1915 to March 1919: he died as a result of the nephritis he had contracted in January 1917 and October 1918 whilst serving, hence he is shown as a war casualty, even though he was discharged in March 1919 and died at home 6 months later.
